What is Bosch IoT Suite?

Connected products and services combined with continuous data-driven improvements and Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities will shape your value creation process. Bosch IoT Suite is made for these requirements: as an open, flexible, and scalable solution, it benefits both your own and your customers’ business models. Users profit from the high security standards and our long-term experience in different business domains. Today, all services of Bosch IoT Suite connect more than 15 million devices and counting.

On our travels, we will be joined by a special guest: Erika is a Manager at Bosch, responsible for opening up new sources of revenue through digitalization. She’s a colleague just like you and me – with one tiny difference: Erika is not real. Instead, she embodies the essence of all questions and challenges some of you might encounter – like finding the best digital and/or AIoT solutions for your needs without wasting hours of your scarce time on research.

So when Erika first heard about Bosch IoT Suite, a lot of questions popped up in her mind: Does it fulfill all the standards companies like Bosch have, from security to legal? Today, we will take Erika on a quick tour through our quality management department. Join her – and you might find answers to your own questions, too.

Destination one: quality management

As a manager in the area of digitalization, Erika has clear expectations of an AIoT solution:

  • All devices must be easily connected
  • Configuration and software updates should easily be possible across all devices
  • Availability of services should be guaranteed 24/7
  • The solution must conform to all corporate standards, be it security, safety, or legal
  • Additional requirements should be implemented quickly
  • The laborious series release process (GQ4) should no longer be necessary for every change

Our answer: a strict and transparent release process, which has been in place for all our services for years. We not only consider customer requirements during development, we also adhere to standards and formalities. Our Bosch.IO Software Development Policy, which is based on the Bosch regulation CDQ 0302, awards maturity levels to our products to assess the processes on a regular basis. Our goal is to always have short development cycles as well as high quality products. We strive to ensure that our products always meet customer expectations. To achieve this, we rely on agile teams and lean processes. Our development cycles are further shortened by high levels of automation in development, testing, and operations.

“That sounds great. But how can I be sure that these processes work as you intend them to?” Good question, Erika. First, the maturity levels from our Software Development Policy are very high for all products, even new developments. They give you the certainty that our products really are QG4-ready. Apart from our rigid self-assessment, Bosch.IO’s quality management system is certified according to ISO 9001. Plus, we’re also one of the few Bosch service providers to hold the ISO 20000 Service Management Certification. (Sorry for bragging, we’re a bit proud of that one 😉.)

To offer customers the best possible service, we not only guarantee a high availability of 99.5 %; we also provide 24/7 operations based on special call-on duty contracts. So even if Erika and her team run into a problem with one of our services in the middle of the night – we’ll have someone out there for support immediately. And if Erika’s requirements ever change, we can implement them quickly – sometimes within a few days, while still conforming to all Bosch standards.
